The game features 2D hand drawn visuals, as well as gameplay mechanics similar to the Souls series. which allows players to heal and act like checkpoints. There are a lot of “Aah, so *this* is where this leads to!” moments as you finally get to open a passage that has been locked for half the game by arriving from the other side. But unlike most Metroidvanias, there is no map so you have to rely on your own sense of direction. The levels of the game are interconnected like in a Metroidvania. Good game, highly recommended if you like soulslikes and metroidvanias.
